Belarus President’s two-day visit to Kazakhstan
Astana is hosting the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Experts call the forum a historic, this year India and Pakistan are to become the SCO member-states. As an observer, Belarus takes an active part in the work of the organization. In his speech President Alexander Lukashenko will lay out Belarus' vision for the further development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, including its economic dimension.
Later on 9 June the head of state is expected to attend the opening ceremony of the international EXPO 2017. Belarus is interested in Kazakhstan’s experience of building exhibition pavilions for the Astana Expo 2017. Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev the previous day. The solemn opening ceremony of the exhibition, with a theatrical performance, a laser show and fireworks will be held in the afternoon after the sessions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
