Triumph of Belarusians at the Paralympics
Plus 2 gold awards and 2 broken records. The legendary Ihar Boki once again climbed to the top step of the podium. The Belarusian set a new world record in this discipline at the distance of 200 meters.
President Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated the athlete and his team on another resounding victory. The head of state said: "We are proud of your successes. You have achieved an outstanding result, having won a whole scattering of awards at the four Paralympics in the name of your motherland Belarus and for the glory of the national sport. I heartily congratulate you and your coaches on the world record and five gold medals in Paris. I wish you further success in your sporting destiny".
Ihar Boki is the most decorated swimmer in the history of the Paralympic Games. The athlete has already won 21 gold medals during his career.
Another triumphant finish was shown by Belarusian Yahor Shchalkanau. At the distance of 100 meters backstroke he not only became the first, but also set a new Paralympic record, touching the board a quarter of a second faster than the previous swimmer. Today the Belarusian Paralympians will continue the fight for medals.
