32nd European Championship in Xiangqi held in Minsk

Minsk hosted the 32nd European Championship in Chinese Chess Xiangqi. This intellectual sport is widespread not only in China, but throughout the world as well, with more than 1.5 billion people playing Xiangqi. Forty chess players from seven countries contested five sets of medals at this year's competitions. Among men, Belarusian chess players Sergei Korchitsky and Pavel Pavlovich took second and third places. In the women's tournament, the bronze medal was won by Darya Komarova from Minsk. The tournament set a record in the number of young participants. 12 of those played in under 18 category, with Belarusian Vladislav Kharlamov taking the second place.
