The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus has sent a new genocide case to the Supreme Court of the republic of Belarus
06.02.2026
The accused is Antanas Gecevicius, a native of the village of Jokuliai in Klaipeda county. During the Great Patriotic War, he commanded a platoon of the 12th police battalion. According to the investigation, Gecevicius personally participated in and gave orders to his subordinates in Minsk and the Minsk region, resulting in mass executions — shootings, hangings, and even burials alive. At least 6.000 people fell victim, including 31 children and the elderly. The Prosecutor General's Office investigative team has gathered irrefutable evidence of the Lithuanian collaborator's guilt. In the history of sovereign Belarus, this is the seventh criminal case against Nazis and their accomplices sent to court.
