Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas Eve
06.01.2026
6 January is a special day for Orthodox believers — Christmas Eve. This is the strictest day of the Christmas fast, a time of silence, prayer and waiting. According to tradition, the fast is observed until the appearance of the first star, the star of Bethlehem, which announced the birth of the Savior to the world. Symbolic dishes are prepared in families, each of which carries a spiritual meaning, and at dusk they devote time to prayer. Solemn divine services will be held in the churches of Belarus in the evening.
