Lithuania has closed its border with Belarus for a month
Due to the closure of the Lithuanian border, Minsktrans cancels flights to Vilnius, Kaunas and Riga for a month. Passengers will receive a refund for their tickets. Currently, the Belarusian side is providing assistance to those who are stuck on the border, having become a hostage of the political situation. The day before, the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the closure of the last two functioning border checkpoints, Medininkai and Salcininkai. From the Belarusian side, these are Kamenny Log and Benyakoni. The Salcininkai checkpoint will be completely shut down. It will be possible to leave Belarus for Lithuania only through Kamenny Log and only for a limited category of persons. These are diplomats and those who deliver diplomatic mail, who transit to or from Kaliningrad, as well as citizens of EU countries, holders of residence permits in Lithuania and with humanitarian visas. In exceptional cases, other persons will be able to cross the border through the mediation of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The restrictions will be in effect until 30 November. Meanwhile, the Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior stressed that, if necessary, the closure of the border can be extended for a longer period.
