Specialists from the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have created large collections of microorganisms. The scientists isolated them from the environment. The producing strains "eat" harmful compounds and convert them into safe forms. The scientists are currently studying the processes that help microorganisms degrade wastewater pollutants. This development could eventually be implemented at wastewater treatment facilities across the country.
