Belarus Prepares to Celebrate Epiphany
15.01.2026
Orthodox believers will celebrate Epiphany on 19 January. One of the traditions is ice-dipping. More than 130 ice-hole spots will be available across the country. Rescuers and medical personnel are asking people to follow a number of recommendations. For example, wear non-slip shoes, bring a warm robe and towel, a set of dry clothes, and be sure to warm up to prepare your body for the cold. Food service points will also be set up for the holiday, so people can enjoy hot tea and snacks after the dip, as well as warming tents. An ambulance will be on duty. Doctors also recommend wearing warm clothing, using sunscreen, and avoiding high heels in severe frosts.
