21.04.2025

A. Lukashenko focused on the state of affairs in the forestry sector and the development of urban-type settlements. The agro-town of Kopys is the small homeland of the President, a prototype of the "the village of the future" from the program of the same name. It is home to the woodworking section of the Orsha Forestry, a major timber harvesting enterprise in the region. The industry has been seriously affected by the sanctions, and supplies had to be reoriented. There is demand for the products in the domestic and foreign markets. Belarus can harvest about 27 mln cubic meters of timber per year. However, so far the volumes are lower. One of the reasons is the lack of logging equipment. The President has instructed to solve this issue. The President was informed about the state of the woodworking industry: the financial indicators have improved. The products are supplied to 16 countries. Own raw materials allow to develop the industry and earn good money. The Ministry of Forestry produces wooden house sets ready for living. This is also an option for solving the housing problem in rural areas, the head of state noted and instructed to increase the volume of supply. Among other things, employees of enterprises will be able to buy such houses. During his working trip to Vitebsk region A. Lukashenko also announced an audit of the state of affairs in urban-type settlements. The President added new facilities to his itinerary — he made an unplanned visit to a local cheese factory and a bakery. A. Lukashenko instructed to expand production and use such experience in small towns across the country.
