Working trip to Mogilev region
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is on a working trip to the Mogilev region. The development of agriculture is being discussed today in the town of Alexandria, Shklov district. The town features the famous experimental presidential fields where new crops are grown using the most modern technologies. Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus is in the zone of risky farming. One of the problems of the country’s agriculture is the short vegetation period of plants. Sowing to harvesting is too short a period of time and it is necessary to cultivate the crops that are suitable for these conditions. This year, winter barley yielded a good harvest. For the Vitebsk region, this crop could be a way out, the president noted. But at the same time, he emphasized that the main thing in this matter is technology. The head of state set the task of achieving a gross grain harvest of 10 million tons and one million tons of rapeseed.
