The situation at the customs was discussed at the President's office
16.09.2024
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky to receive his report. The head of state raised a number of issues concerning the transit of cargoes and assistance to enterprises in the conditions of restrictions imposed by the West and reorientation to the eastern direction. The problem of truck queues in front of checkpoints caused by Lithuania, Latvia and Poland remains a pressing issue. In order to ensure comfortable travel conditions in these directions, work is continuing on the construction and improvement of waiting areas near border crossing points. In early 2025, the main project on the Belarusian-Polish border — the reconstruction of the Berestovitsa border crossing point — will be completed. The capacity will increase by 100 cars per day. The sides discussed the situation with payments and budget replenishment through the work of customs authorities, as well as ensuring security and combating smuggling.
