A big talk about the education system took place in Minsk. The President took part in the Nationwide Conference on Teaching. Minister of education Andrei Ivanets reported to Aleksandr Lukashenko on the state of affairs. The head of state asked what problems remain in the education system and whether the school has become a real temple in the minds of pupils. The President oriented to an honest and frank dialog in order to feel the nerve of teachers.
During the discussion, Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested reviving labor practice for schoolchildren. Special attention was paid to the training of labor force. Vocational education must not be destroyed in Belarus by any means. A good material and technical base has been created, but not all colleges are able to keep up with the times. The President drew attention to the fact that the education system has been reformed for many years. There will be no more significant changes. There is only a need for fine-tuning on some points. The head of state emphasized the key areas. Aleksandr Lukashenko confirmed plans to equalize the wages of education workers with the national average by next year. He reminded that Belarus is working to provide housing for education workers. He also announced that a world-class educational hub, no worse than Harvard, would be created in the country.
