The Head of State heard a report on the development of the districts of Gomel Oblast affected by the Chernobyl accident

The development of the Chernobyl territories was reported to the President on the eve of the next anniversary of the largest technogenic disaster. Not to lose these lands, to ensure their development was a national task, the most important national project. Aleksandr Lukashenko has always personally supervised the revival of contaminated lands, support and recovery of people. A quarter of the Belarusian territories turned out to be in the zone of radiation contamination. And in 39 years since the accident, Belarus has managed to bring life and people back to many affected regions. Over the years of independence, six state programmes to overcome the consequences of the disaster have been adopted.
