The formation of the Council of the Republic was discussed with the President
The formation of the Upper House of Parliament was discussed with the President. Chair of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova gave a report at the Palace of Independence. The main tasks are to ensure the full functioning of parliament; this is not easy given the newly arrived deputies and their current inexperience. Personnel decisions were also discussed. The Belarusian parliament consists of two chambers – upper and lower. At the end of February, Belarusians elected 110 deputies to the lower house of representatives. They have to develop laws for the country. As for the upper house, it contains experienced people, senators, who can evaluate and accept or not accept the drafts of the lower chamber. This allows avoiding many mistakes and shortcomings in the work of the parliament.
