President's meeting with Gomel region officials
The President held a meeting with the officials of the Gomel region and introduced the newly appointed head of the region, Ivan Krupko. The socio-political situation is the first thing that interests the head of state. How well the region is coping with new challenges has a direct bearing upon the functioning of the economy and the lives of people, among other things. The situation is under control, but this is not a reason for complacency, the President emphasized. The focus is on our COVID response and economic performance. All issues of the development of the region are now under the jurisdiction of the new governor. In recent years, the Gomel region has changed. The industrial growth and investment volumes in the region are ahead of the average figures across the country. Exports grew by a third. The task of the new governor is to streamline the performance of the agricultural sector, facilitate the completion of large investment projects, and form a strong management team. The Chernobyl disaster still has an effect on the region. But it has come back to life. Making Gomel region a flourishing one is the instruction given by the President.
