President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with head of the Academy of Sciences Vladimir Gusakov

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed to actively promote the achievements of Belarusian scientists. The Head of State said this at a meeting with the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov. The Academy is actively involved in solving urgent problems for many areas of the country: from healthcare to nuclear energy and space. The introduction of domestic developments in the economy and social sphere is expanding. These are all high-tech products. Last year, more than 200 import-substituting products worth almost half a million dollars were produced based on the developments of the Academy of Sciences. One of the most high-profile developments in the agro-industrial complex is the Holstein breed of domestic selection. A number of new varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops have also been created. In healthcare, the work on a domestic coronavirus vaccine continues. The first batch of the prototype vaccine was created, preclinical tests were carried out. The Center for Experimental and Applied Virology has also been created at the National Academy of Sciences, new meds and dietary supplements are being developed. Exports of biotechnological products alone exceeded $20 million last year. These are medicines, food products, feed additives, and veterinary drugs. Developments are also created jointly with industrial enterprises. The Academy together with MTZ created experimental models of an unmanned tractor, an ice resurfacer, and a truck. Together with the State Military Industry Committee, the Academy is developing various drones.
