President holds meeting with CSTO Secretary General
Regional security, the priorities of Belarus' presidency in the CSTO and this year's action plan. These topics were discussed today by the Head of State at his meeting with the CSTO Secretary General. Earlier this year, Imangali Tasmagambetov from Kazakhstan took up this post. Belarus is chairing the Organization this year; Minsk will host all the major events. Among the priorities in 2023 will be settlement of crisis situations and raising the prestige of the CSTO in the system of international organizations. The goals and priorities of the Belarusian presidency in the CSTO were voiced by the head of our state at the November summit in Armenia. Belarus assumed presidency at a time of systemic international crisis. There are a lot of issues to be addressed. One of the fundamental tasks is to increase the cohesion between the CSTO member states, reduce tensions and settle contradictions between them in order to strengthen the organization itself and ensure security. Today Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the action plan to implement the decisions taken at the November session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and fulfill the priority activities of the organization during Belarus' presidency.
