President holds meeting on development of agricultural industry in Gomel region
Only hard work can reverse the negative trends. The President stated this today at a meeting on the development of the Gomel Region agricultural industry. The President arrived in Gomel to have a thorough review of the problems and find ways to solve them. The Gomel Region Executive Committee brought together all those whose managerial decisions affect the development of the industry. And each of the participants should return to their district or farm and work hard, with full dedication, demanding the same from the subordinates. Minsk Region harvested more than 2 million tons of grain, a million and a half tons were brought in by Grodno and Brest Regions. Vitebsk and Mogilev Regions harvested over a million tons each. While Gomel Region’s contribution to the national total is less noticeable, said the head of the state. Meanwhile, grain is the foundation of food security. Over the last 5 years, agricultural output in the Region has fallen by more than 13%. While the country as a whole saw a growth of 4%. The government of the Region presented to the Head of State a concrete plan spelling out the strategy and tactics to address the situation.
