President at Forum of Media Community of Belarus
The main responsibility of the Belarusian media is to preserve the country. A statement to this effect was made by Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Forum of the Media Community of Belarus. Mogilev has turned into a big discussion platform on the present and future of the media industry. The forum united heads and employees of the national and regional media, bloggers, representatives of specialized universities, ideologists, experts in the field of communications. The President is convinced that all of them feel the nerve of our era like no one else. They are at the forefront of the information war. They have to be both defenders and fighters. Information has become not just a resource, but a powerful weapon. And the country is in the crosshairs of propaganda. The task of everyone at their own level is to defend information sovereignty, to think analytically, to understand the responsibility for our future. Opponents use more and more sophisticated forms of hybrid aggression. But Belarusians are used to it: the confrontation has been going on since the moment of gaining sovereignty. Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized: the events of 2020 had tempered our journalists, they had become tougher and more principled in defending the truth. And today we must not slow down. Belarus continues to be subjected to immense hybrid pressure from the West. Not only political, informational, economic, but also military. And we must be ready for everything, for any provocations. Including those in the information sphere. The Forum will discuss in detail how to counteract the current challenges with the participation of the largest media, bloggers and experts.
