Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation on 17 August. The Presidents of Belarus and Russia discussed the situation in the region, taking into account the negotiations in Alaska. The Russian leader informed his Belarusian counterpart in detail about the results of the Russia–USA summit. The Heads of States also touched upon certain issues of bilateral Belarusian-Russian relations.
