Law "On the President of the Republic of Belarus" adjusted
The Head of State Aleksander Lukashenko has signed into action the law on comprehensive adjustment of the law "On the President of the Republic of Belarus". The document has been approved taking into account the updated Constitution and law enforcement practice. The amendments serve to specify requirements for a presidential candidate. It has to be a citizen of Belarus by birth, not younger than 40, having the right to vote, permanently residing in our country for at least 20 years before the elections. He or she is not to have or have had a citizenship of a foreign state, residence permit, other document of a foreign state, entitling to benefits and other advantages. It is established that the President of Belarus heads the system of public service, is a delegate of the National Assembly. In addition, the status of the President of Belarus who has ceased to exercise his or her powers is determined.
