Efficient use of forest resources discussed at Palace of Independence
Improving the efficiency of use of forest resources was the main topic of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Dvornik and Chairman of the State Control Committee Leonid Anfimov at the Palace of Independence. The corresponding report was presented to the Head of State. Belarus phased out of round wood export a year ago, which even led to the industry’s net profit growth. However, this year the situation in foreign markets is unfavorable. In addition, some enterprises are still undergoing modernization. Therefore, the government asked the President to allow the export of 900,000 m2 of reclaimed lumber. The government also plans to build pellet plants in the country, where low quality timber will be recycled.
