Draft decree on forestry industry submitted to Belarus president
A draft decree "On the operation of the forestry industry and the sales of timber" was submitted to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. Forests are the wealth of Belarus, and their rational use is the most important task, which is not always carried out, the head of state believes. The draft decree introduces serious amendments to the organization of timber sales on the domestic market. The current regulations were introduced in 2007, and today some of the provisions are outdated. As for export, Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that products with high added value should be sold abroad. As a positive example, the head of state cited a French city where Belarusians built a whole block of wooden houses. Following the meeting, the President sent the draft decree for revision.
