Development of cooperation between Belarus and Russia's Sakhalin region is at the centre of A. Lukashenko's attention
Import substitution, innovations, construction, agriculture, light industry and pharmaceuticals are the key areas that are in the centre of attention of the Belarusian leader and the governor of Sakhalin Oblast. Valery Limarenko supervised the construction of the first power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant as the head of Atomenergoproekt Nizhny Novgorod. For his contribution to strengthening co-operation, he was honoured with the President's gratitude. Among the large-scale projects Belarus is ready to join is the creation of an international logistics hub by modernising the port infrastructure of Sakhalin, as well as the construction of fish processing plants. The Russian region is already using Belarusian technologies in the agro-industrial complex. There is potential for further development, including the creation of large production complexes.
