CIS Summit in Astana
The President of Belarus took part in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Astana. In a narrow format, the leaders of the countries exchanged views on topical issues of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Some organizational issues were also considered. After that, a meeting was held in an expanded format with the participation of delegations. Among the topics were the fight against corruption, partnership in the field of security, and giving the CIS observer status in the CSTO. The parties signed about two dozen documents. Belarus also supported the reappointment of Sergei Lebedev to the post of chairman of the executive committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State is scheduled for October 13, 2023 in Bishkek. In accordance with the rotation next year, the chairmanship in the organization is to pass to Kyrgyzstan.
