Belarus takes over CSTO presidency
Belarus takes over the presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization at a time of systemic crisis in international relations. This statement was made by Aleksandr Lukashenko at the summit in Yerevan. Security issues are now in the foreground. The improvement of the CSTO crisis response system is on the agenda. The world has ceased to be unipolar, NATO continues to move eastwards, and it poses a real threat to our borders. Countries that want to follow their own path with an independent foreign policy are coming under strong pressure. The possibility of using nuclear weapons comes up incresingly. The unchanged position of Belarus is "nuclear blackmail has no place in international politics". Belarus took over the presidency immediately after the summit; the course is aimed at improving the effectiveness of the CSTO.
