Belarus-Tajikistan: mutually beneficial cooperation
Economy was the key subject of the talks of the Belarusian leader in Dushanbe. Today, Aleksandr Lukashenko met with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan and the Speaker of the Lower House of the Parliament. Belarus is determined to step up trade with Tajikistan. The volume is already $200 million, but it is far from the potential. Machine-building, energy, light industry, military-industrial complex, and training of healthcare personnel can be energized. Tajikistan is a good springboard for Belarus to enter markets of neighboring countries and regions, which would expand sales of our products, including joint ones. Partnership between Belarus and Tajikistan was also discussed at the meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda. Most of what was discussed was politics. Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the reliance on the "people's parliamentary diplomacy" in the current turbulent situation has increased considerably. The potential of the economies of Belarus and Tajikistan is much higher than the level of trade. The Tajik-Belarusian investment forum will add to the portfolio of contracts. Delegations have already worked fruitfully on new points of growth.
