Belarus President meets with CEC head to discuss 2019-2020 election campaigns
Aleksandr Lukashenko discussed the organization of electoral campaigns with Lidia Yermoshina, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission. Presidential elections will be held next year. Parliamentary elections are to be held in November 2019. At the meeting, Lidia Yermoshina suggested holding elections to the Council of the Republic on 7 November and elections to the House of Representatives on 17 November. Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an instruction to study these proposals, update him on the progress and prepare adequate draft decrees. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Lidia Yermoshina also discussed issues of informing people about the campaign. The position of the head of state is clear – elections in Belarus must be open, democratic and held in accordance with the law.
