Belarus President held a meeting with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly
Legislative activity, receptions of citizens, and the upcoming election campaign in Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting with Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament Natalya Kochanova. During the tenth session, the Council of the Republic considered and approved 101 bills. The work is focused on bringing laws into compliance with the updated Constitution. Two new laws were adopted – "On the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly" and "On the Foundations of Civil Society". Changes have been made to laws relating to the status of government bodies and the electoral system. All this ensures legal regulation of issues that meet modern challenges and with an eye to the future. Expert councils of the upper chamber have become a "legal filter". They deal with a comprehensive review of draft major regulatory legal acts and an assessment of the consequences of their adoption. As Alexander Lukashenko emphasized, there should be no bureaucracy in this matter. The participation of the Council of the Republic in the upcoming election campaign was also discussed.
