Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Austria President Alexander Van der Bellen held talks in Vienna

A meeting between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Austria President Alexander Van der Bellen took place in Vienna today. Formal negotiations were preceded by a welcoming ceremony at the residence of the Austrian leader. The parties discussed the continuation of trade, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation in both narrow and extended format. Political issues were also in the spotlight, e.g. the situation in the region and the world, the interaction of Belarus with the European Union, including within the Eastern Partnership, as well as environmental protection topics. Experts are unanimous that the meeting in Vienna is a new page in relations between Belarus and the European Union.
