Belarus will move further towards more independence of the local authorities, taking national traditions as a basis and using the best European experience. The Belarusian leader voiced the position today, as he met with President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Anders Knape. A.Lukashenko underlined, that Belarus has a well-balanced system of local self-government. It helps maintain equal development of the regions, with the target – equal living standards in throughout the country. The President was interested to learn about the system of local self-government on the Council of Europe's platform and reiterated readiness to domesticate the best practice.
