Alexander Lukashenko heard out a report of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Chairman
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko set the task of maintaining the pace of economic development in the country and regions at least at last year’s level. The head of state stated this at a meeting with Grodno Region Executive Committee Chairman Vladimir Karanik. The day before, the economic situation in the east of the country was comprehensively analyzed. As Alexander Lukashenko noted, a number of shortcomings have been identified, but they are not critical. Traditionally, in the middle of summer, the number one topic in the country is the harvesting campaign and the second grass cutting. The situation on the world food market is critical: Belarusian farmers need to feed their people and make money abroad. During the meeting, the participants also discussed the need to extend the visa-free regime for citizens of Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. The main thing, the head of state noted, is the reaction of ordinary citizens, primarily Belarusians. The President also inquired about the progress of the Grodno Oncology Dispensary construction as this medical institution is extremely important for the western region of the country.
