Aleksandr Lukashenko: the main task is to prevent escalation on the western border
18.09.2025
The situation around Belarus and its causes were discussed at the Palace of Independence the day before. President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he had always tried to do everything to have good relations with Poland. Aleksandr Lukashenko, in particular, mentioned the reaction in Poland to the Belarusian-Russian Zapad-2025 exercise, and taking into account their concerns, it was decided to move the manoeuvres inland. "It was my personal decision to move away from the border. And not provoke them", the President stressed. Nevertheless, the Polish side has found a reason to close the border.
