The President of Belarus took part in commemorative events at the memorial complex "Brest Hero Fortress" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The head of state laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame on the Ceremonial Square of the Brest Fortress. "We will not give up our native land and sovereignty to anyone", the President said during a ceremony that took place near the walls of the Brest Fortress. It was the culmination of commemorative events throughout the country. "We remember the lessons of the past, we live on our land and are ready to defend it by all possible means", these words of the Belarusian leader sounded more relevant than ever. The memorial complex hosted a requiem concert in honor of the war heroes.
