A. Lukashenko held a large meeting on the state and challenges of industrial development
There were more than 250 participants in one hall: the government, governors, heads of various enterprises from all over the country and free economic zones, as well as the National Bank, scientists, Belstat, and regulatory agencies. It was important for the president to hear different opinions. In general, industry of the past few years boats a stable increase in production volumes – plus 40% over three years. Electronics, cars, trucks, and combine harvesters are on the rise. At the same time, the situation with the production of tractors, refrigerators, and engines is tense. Alexander Lukashenko focuses on modern technologies – they are the ones that ensure high productivity, quality, and cost reduction. The situation with exports is also ambiguous. On the one hand, last year Belarus sold the maximum in the last decade, on the other hand, Belarus is poorly diversifying supplies to the Far Arc countries. Alexander Lukashenko calls import substitution a priority for the industrial complex. The stability of our economy and the country’s technological independence from Western sanctions depend on this today. The President also set the task of protecting the domestic market: there is an issue of selling goods and unloading warehouses filled with finished products.
