А. Lukashenko stated his intention to establish a strategic partnership between Belarus and Vietnam
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam arrived in Minsk the day before. The distinguished guest was welcomed at the Palace of Independence. The status of the visit implies a strict ceremonial meeting — a red carpet and a company of honor guard. The anthems of the two countries were played. Belarus and Vietnam are on the way to strengthening partnership. Recent years have been marked by the activity of bilateral contacts — the government delegation of Belarus visited Hanoi twice, parliamentarians met. Today there are talks at the highest level. Vietnam is a strategic partner, a reference point for building up Belarus' economic presence in Asia. The cooperation is based on long-standing friendship, mutual respect and support. A. Lukashenko assured that Belarus is ready for further comprehensive cooperation and strict fulfillment of all agreements. Minsk and Hanoi are strengthening economic ties. This is facilitated by the free trade zone. There is an assembly of Belarusian trucks in Vietnam. The parties expect to launch another one — assembly production of MTZ tractors. The project is being worked out. Visa-free regime contributes to the strengthening of contacts. The journey from Minsk to Hanoi and back may become shorter, as the countries plan to launch direct air service.
