А. Lukashenko recalled the important lessons of history at the solemn meeting to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day
The Head of State took part in a solemn meeting on the occasion of Victory Day at the Palace of the Republic. A. Lukashenko emphasised the importance of celebrating this date. Even after 80 years, the scale of losses is still painful in our hearts: according to rough estimates, more than 28 mln Soviet citizens, although the real number is much higher. The President drew attention to the fact that given the discovery of new mass graves in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, one can talk about every third person who died and did not rule out that one day it will be every second person. "We have nothing to hide", the Head of State noted. 80 years ago the Soviet Union crushed Nazi Germany. And celebrating this event, every year we mentally return to the past, painful and heroic. These are lessons that help us to look at our present and future without illusions. The President's special thanks went to the veterans. The greatness of their feat gives all future generations the strength for new achievements in the name of peace in their native land.
