The issues of planning the state defence in the medium term were discussed at the Palace of Independence. Aleksandr Lukashenko has convened the Security Council. The military and political situation in the world is heated to the limit. Long-standing conflicts are escalating, new hotbeds of tension are appearing. Europe is far from calm either, the President said. Moreover, some states continue to escalate the situation around Belarus, destructive rhetoric is growing, opponents do not give up their attempts to shake up the situation inside the country. In such conditions Aleksandr Lukashenko urges to keep one’s finger on the pulse. The President emphasised that the Belarusian army does not threaten anyone. It is only an instrument to prevent military conflicts. However, in case of aggression, the military is aimed at repelling any blow.
