Wedding fashion and culture presented at exhibition in Minsk
The exhibition is held in the Museum of History of Minsk. The exposition is based on the collection of wedding dresses and accessories from 1950-2010. The symbolism of the wedding ceremony, which has a deep sacral meaning, is complemented by traditional wedding crowns of the bride and groom. And traditional embroidered towels known as rushniks, hand-painted chests and authentic accessories could help one recognize what particular region the bride was from. In the 1970s, laconic lace floor-length dresses became fashionable. The splendor and elegance of wedding dresses characterize the 1980s. The exhibition also presents wedding photographs and albums, marriage certificates, postcards, invitations and materials dedicated to the church wedding ceremony.
