Three-ton bronze monument to Duke Gedimin to be installed in Lida
18.02.2019
A bronze equestrian statue of the Grand Duke of Lithuania and the founder of the city of Lida Gedimin will appear near the walls of the Lida Castle. It will be raised on a pedestal of granite from the Ladoga deposit. The sculpture is over six meters high and weighs three tons. The project is being implemented thanks to sponsorship and donations by Lida citizens. There are few horse sculptures in Belarus. Historical legends on horses are installed only in Vitebsk, Polotsk and Bobruisk. Soon a monument will appear to Prince Gleb of Minsk near the Cathedral of the capital.
