The original of the Brest Bible exhibited in the museum
A rare cultural event in Brest. The original Brest Bible, the book is 459 years old, was exhibited in the Museum of the City History. Pages deteriorate from UV rays, so most of the time the tome is kept in the safe. They take it out once or twice a year. The Brest Bible was published by order of Nicholas Radziwill the Black. This is a unique monument of printing, the peculiarity of which is skillful engravings. In Brest there is one of the best specimens that have survived to this day. It was placed in a special display case. Each time the Bible is opened on a new page. Residents and guests of the city have exactly one month to see the original. After that, the book will be hidden again. Also, an old original engraving depicting the siege of Brest by the Swedes in 1657 was presented at the Museum of the History of the City. This is the only known depiction of the city from that period.
