Minsk Nezavisimosti avenue got world importance

The architecture ensemble of the Nezavisimosti (Independence) avenue got the first protection category. The decision was taken by the National scientific and methodical council on historical and cultural heritage at the Ministry of culture. This means, that the object is not only of national but also of world value. A folder on conferring the UNESCO World Heritage status to the capital's main avenue in under preparation. Dozens of buildings in the Soviet empire style are situated along the 15-kilometer avenue. The Minsk city executive committee was recommended to focus on the ensemble's preservation and put the historical front sides to rights.
