Map of 16th century re-created in Belarus

Belarusians have recreated the pearl of world cartography. Today, the National Library hosted a presentation of the map of the 16th century. The original was made by a Venetian engraver and printer Giovanni Vavassori. The restoration took about a year featuring old techniques. The restorers produced themselves paper based on flax and cotton. There are no countries marked on the map, however one can find here two Belarusian rivers – the Dnieper and the Western Dvina.
