International Museum Day

May 18 is International Museum Day. It is celebrated for the 45th time. The event was added to the international calendar at a conference of the International Council of Museums in 1977. The initiative came from the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. This year, 145 countries will come together to unleash the "power of museums", which is this year’s motto. There are 152 public museums in Belarus. Many institutions will join the Night of Museums. The event starts tonight to culminate on May 21.
