Euphrosyne of Polotsk feast day

The feast day of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk is celebrated today. Founder of many temples and monasteries, enlightener and scribe from the 12th century, St. Euphrosyne is a unique historical personality that gave impetus to the development of the spiritual, cultural and social life of her epoch. She is also the first Belarusian woman to have been canonized and revered today as one of the central figures of Christianity. In her honor today all Christian Orthodox churches in Belarus hold festive divine services, and Polotsk hosts special educational events, the laying of flowers at the monument to Euphrosyne.
