28.11.2018
Authentic Belarusian folk rite Cat Baking was revived in the town of Skirmantovo, Dzerzhinsky district. The tradition of «baking a cat cake» on the eve of Christmas Lent existed among our ancestors for a long time. They praised the cat, which according to Slavic mythology is the patron of family and love, with songs, games, and lenten dishes. The folk rite was included into the list of historical and cultural values of Belarus.
