30.04.2019
The list of historical and cultural values of Belarus grew bigger with the addition of an ancient rite called Walking the Sula. Residents of the villages Markovichi and Gadichevo in the Gomel region revived it 12 years ago. Since then, the rite is traditionally held on the second day of Easter. It was believed that this rite helps to stay healthy, protects from natural calamities and ensures a good harvest. Walking the Sula became the eleventh rite from the Gomel region to be included in the National List. There are 125 items on the list of historical and cultural values of Belarus today.
