140 years since date of birth of Yakub Kolas
Today Belarus celebrates 140 years since the date of birth of classic of the national literature Yakub Kolas. Head of State Alexander Lukashenko sent a message of greetings to the participants of the grand ceremony dedicated to the jubilee.
The lines from the poems by the singer of the Belarusian land were recited today at the Yakub Kolas square in Minsk. The national choir named after Tsitovich quoted excerpts from the classic’s literature pieces. The symbol of national authenticity was honored with a minute of silence at the bronze memorial. Flowers were laid to the foot of the monument. The ceremony brought together representatives of the cultural sphere and all those who are not indifferent to the belles lettres by the great author, including students of Belarusian high schools and universities.
