Belarusians become world champions in gorodki game

From amateur game to professional competitions. The Belarusian gorodki team became the world champion at the competition in Priozersk. Among the prominent Belarusian athletes is Galina Zhavoronkova. The world champion was the first Belarusian athlete to complete the qualification standard "Master of Sports International Class". The game of gorodki has been around for about 200 years. The traditional folk entertainment received an official status as gorodki was included into the program of the first All-Belarusian Athletic Games.
