Belarusian swimmers successful at European Championships

The national swimming team of Belarus put in some impressive performance at the European Championships in Russia's Kazan. The team won 4 medals. Three of them were taken by Ilya Shimanovich, including two gold and one silver award. He was also named the Championships' best athlete, and equaled the world record in 50 meters breaststroke. Belarus' Anastasia Shkurdai took a silver. Both medalists left Kazan for the Netherlands, where they will continue competing as part of the International Swimming League events.
